I found this book to be incredibly informative and useful。 I picked it up because there have been a lot of arguments at home lately and I thought that this would help me to understand how we all communicate and what makes each of us tick so that we can improve communication and get along better。 It's safe to say it has been working like a treat so far!

The categorization of people is a little narrow, not sure if it really applies to everyone the way the author claims。 However, was an interesting read and did help me understand certain individuals that are in my world。

I find personality books interesting。 The way people think are completely different and affect communication。

Well written and structured, I found it very helpful to understand how people act or react and helped me understand myself a little more as well ! I highly recommend it !

This book was a struggle for 2 reasons。 Firstly, the format was a bit mind-numbing feeling like it was one list after another。。。。 red, yellow, green, blue and then repeat。 Secondly, to try and categorise human beings always has the problem of oversimplification and stereotyping。 The lack of attention given to the influence of mental health on human behaviour in particular contributed greatly to the oversimplifying。 Overall, rather unsatisfactory。

The book started off very interesting and informative, however it quickly became very repetitive and thus rather boring。 I managed to get to chapter 11 before I gave up。 I read some reviews on here before I started the book that said there was no science to back up the author’s points, and that everything was just anecdotes from his life。 I didn’t want to agree with them as I enjoyed the start, however after the first few chapters everything did feel a bit loose。 The author discusses different t The book started off very interesting and informative, however it quickly became very repetitive and thus rather boring。 I managed to get to chapter 11 before I gave up。 I read some reviews on here before I started the book that said there was no science to back up the author’s points, and that everything was just anecdotes from his life。 I didn’t want to agree with them as I enjoyed the start, however after the first few chapters everything did feel a bit loose。 The author discusses different types of people and places most people into one of four categories。 Whilst he does acknowledge that people can be in multiple categories, it feels like a rather outdated system as neurodivergent people are not discussed and neither are different cultures。 It all feels like it has been based off western office workers so it can’t all be extrapolated to other cultures。 I really wanted to enjoy this book so it’s a shame that I couldn’t even finish it。 。。。more

I mean。。。 at first it was interesting, I won't lie but sooner or later most of the information started to repeat and there wasn't anything new to learn, except how certain colours deal with stress。 Most of the things about certain colours I already knew but in this book it was only categorised in colours。 I don't know。。。 it wasn't wow。 Certain things were unecessary (such as too many examples from work place that ended up in the same pattern and I already knew where it was leading to) and I felt I mean。。。 at first it was interesting, I won't lie but sooner or later most of the information started to repeat and there wasn't anything new to learn, except how certain colours deal with stress。 Most of the things about certain colours I already knew but in this book it was only categorised in colours。 I don't know。。。 it wasn't wow。 Certain things were unecessary (such as too many examples from work place that ended up in the same pattern and I already knew where it was leading to) and I felt like the author was exaggerating some colours。 Perhaps the interviews really went that way but for me it's hard to believe。 I might have a lot of yellow in my profile, a bt of blue and red even but yeah。 Everything was put so neatly in boxes that by the end of the book I lost all interest and I didn't even know what author wanted to point out except for what he already pointed out in the first 100 pages。 The rest seemed so unecessary。 。。。more

Very educational。 I feel like I need the work book to go with that read。 I know that I'm a yellow, but tones of other colors。。。not sure on the details。 I know a definiately blue person。 But the rest are kind of vague to me。 I would like to review the "how to interact with said colors" for all my special interactions。 Very educational。 I feel like I need the work book to go with that read。 I know that I'm a yellow, but tones of other colors。。。not sure on the details。 I know a definiately blue person。 But the rest are kind of vague to me。 I would like to review the "how to interact with said colors" for all my special interactions。 。。。more

I was stuck between rating this book a 3 or 4/5 stars。 It took me a while to finish it, not because it wasn't interesting - but because although the topic is really insightful, the book is really quite repetitive (I guess according to Erikson that observation would make me a red 😂)。 From a psychologists perspective, I understand why this idea is so enticing。 It's easy to grip, easy to use in daily life and simplifies people significantly for the business market。 The theory is quite clearly made I was stuck between rating this book a 3 or 4/5 stars。 It took me a while to finish it, not because it wasn't interesting - but because although the topic is really insightful, the book is really quite repetitive (I guess according to Erikson that observation would make me a red 😂)。 From a psychologists perspective, I understand why this idea is so enticing。 It's easy to grip, easy to use in daily life and simplifies people significantly for the business market。 The theory is quite clearly made for the working market, with a heavy focus on how best to make people work together。 I dont think I'd have to mention the endless criticisms that the trait approach recieves within the psych world。 It's view is limited in scope and the complexity of a human is entirely overseen。 Not even to mention the fact that biological aspects or genetics is completely ignored。Therefore, though as a psychologist it's limited and at most and easy way of viewing people - I do have to emphasize the point that I know people within organizational psych and the business world who base a lot of their decisions on this concept。 It seems that in practice it works, and it's acceptance shows it's user friendliness。Therefore, I guess, it just depends on the perspective and intention with which you aim to read and learn about this theory。 Overall, insightful book。 。。。more

I'm surprised by all the negative reviews。 I found this a really interesting read。 It's the author's take on Marston's DISC personality assessment tool, peppered with personal anecdotes from his career as a communications specialist。 Erikson provides insight into both how to recognise these different personality types and how to best communicate with each (spoiler - we must adapt our communication for different people, else they might misinterpret our message)。 I see a lot of complaints that it I'm surprised by all the negative reviews。 I found this a really interesting read。 It's the author's take on Marston's DISC personality assessment tool, peppered with personal anecdotes from his career as a communications specialist。 Erikson provides insight into both how to recognise these different personality types and how to best communicate with each (spoiler - we must adapt our communication for different people, else they might misinterpret our message)。 I see a lot of complaints that it was written simply。 I agree - but this made it an easy, quick read。 The author doesn't claim to have made a breakthrough in psychological research, he is simply providing an interesting perspective on communication and some techniques to try。 。。。more

Ok first of all, categorizing personalities into 4 is the biggest mistake the author has done。 Although I got to give it to him for acknowledging that there are those people who have a mixed personality。 He did not discuss it though, especially considering the fact that most people have mixed personalities。 He basically disregarded majority of potential readers by not discussing THEIR "mixed" personality。Everytime the author would discuss one personality, I find myself relating to each one。 In t Ok first of all, categorizing personalities into 4 is the biggest mistake the author has done。 Although I got to give it to him for acknowledging that there are those people who have a mixed personality。 He did not discuss it though, especially considering the fact that most people have mixed personalities。 He basically disregarded majority of potential readers by not discussing THEIR "mixed" personality。Everytime the author would discuss one personality, I find myself relating to each one。 In the end I had to pick all 4 as MY PERSONALITY TRAIT。Second point, which is a good one, I appreciate the ideas he threw in the last chapters of the book re "how to cope/ communicate"。 That part I liked, hence the 2 stars。Ps。 I like the lion king reference when Scar said, "I'm surrounded by idiots。" 。。。more

I did not enjoy the book very much as I am uncomfortable with sales people and sales techniques。 I guess I do not like the idea of being manipulated。 Bethan did enjoy it though and lent me the book so I persevered to the end and as a positive it gives us the chance to examine certain personality traits and have some lively discussions such as- You are such a Red in having to have your own way! or I am a Green because I am so considerate !!It is not a difficult read as such but I did not find it I did not enjoy the book very much as I am uncomfortable with sales people and sales techniques。 I guess I do not like the idea of being manipulated。 Bethan did enjoy it though and lent me the book so I persevered to the end and as a positive it gives us the chance to examine certain personality traits and have some lively discussions such as- You are such a Red in having to have your own way! or I am a Green because I am so considerate !!It is not a difficult read as such but I did not find it very convincing 。 It describes the type of behaviour to expect linked to four character types 。 An individual can be one type or a mix of two or occasionally three types。 A problem I have is that I recognise all four types in my own character at some stage of my life or mood and I expect most others would as well so its a bit limiting。 Because it annoyed me a bit I lent the book to Jayne and she is certainly engaging with the book albeit it annoys her a bit as well! So as a bit of fun to frame a discussion of peoples differences I would recommend it and I think it is always good to be considerate of other peoples differences and learn to respect others when you find you do not agree with them。 That's the sort of thing we all know deep down and it is never too often to be reminded。 。。。more

In a way it was a useful and interesting book although I actively hate this writing style。 It offers too few facts and too many personal anecdotes。 If you have read the book, you can easily tell my type/color by this comment。I would not categorize this book as phychological or educational。 It is rather a light self-motivation read than anything else。I found it personally valuable because it made me realize I posses a few traits I dislike in others, and gave me some ideas on how to work on that。 In a way it was a useful and interesting book although I actively hate this writing style。 It offers too few facts and too many personal anecdotes。 If you have read the book, you can easily tell my type/color by this comment。I would not categorize this book as phychological or educational。 It is rather a light self-motivation read than anything else。I found it personally valuable because it made me realize I posses a few traits I dislike in others, and gave me some ideas on how to work on that。 I was also impressed by the emphasis the book puts on working for better communication and understanding of those different from you。I can't exactly put my finger on it, but there is something juuuust a tinsy bit sexist in some jokes and that made the reading unpleasant and a bit creepy now and then。 。。。more

Enlightening! Although this book appeared to me to be designed for people building and managing teams at work or to enable salespeople to be better able to read their prospects, I learned plenty about myself too。 The author classifies all people as one of four types and labels them with colors, red, yellow, green and blue。 The approach has to do with behavior and I was convinced this is a viable way to understand those around you and be able to interact without conflict。 The end result being I w Enlightening!
